1.... what medium and tools do you use to create art?

I work exclusively in stoneware clay. As for tools I use mainly my hands and a few wooden tools, torches, water bottles and paint brushes.

2.... can you describe your creative process when making art?

I normally create a form from the potters wheel and let the clay take me where it wants to go.

3.... what helps boost your creativity?

Beer, music and no distractions.

4.... what helps you maintain focus and motivation when creating?

Deadlines

5.... what is the secret to creating a great piece of art?

Well....You can't force it, but you also cannot sit around waiting for it to happen. Starting is the artists biggest hurdle.

6.... do you feel its important to follow your passion in your career?

Oh yeah.... trust me I was the weird kid and now the weird adult. Some people just don't get it and that's ok. I have found more success in art as the odd one than those taking the safe path.

7.... how and when do you get your best ideas?

The point in time in the morning between dreaming and conciseness.

8.... who are your favorite artists?

Dr. Seuss, Brian Froud, Jim Henson, Sergio Argones, Don Martin, Tim Burton, Ralph Steadman, and many artist from the 70's era MAD magazine.

9.... do you offer workshops for artists?

HA..... no my process is lengthy and I have a hard time just keeping up.

10.... if you could give other artists one piece of advice what would it be?

Well here is two "DO...it does not happen by itself" and "Don't take yourself seriously"
