10 Questions with Rafa Toro

1.... who are your favorite artists?

To name a few: Tim Burton, Jordi Labanda, Manuel Vázquez, Shane Glines, Richard Scarry, Ronald Searle, Jamie Hewett, Carlos Vermut, Francesca Ghermandi, Sanjay Patel, Darwyn Cooke, Ed Carosia, Francisco Ibañez...

2.... do you offer workshops for artists?

Never done that before, but I wouldn't mind to try.

3.... what helps boost your creativity?

Just typical stuff most artists do like watching movies or listening to music.

4.... what medium and tools do you use to create art?

In the last years I use mostly digital tools, but every now and then i like to go back to paints and cardboards and get my hands dirty.

5.... what helps you maintain focus and motivation when creating?

The expectation of having the work done it's enough for me.

6.... do you feel its important to follow your passion in your career?

It's quintaessential, do whatever you enjoy to do or you feel miserable forever and ever.

7.... what is the secret to creating a great piece of art?

I have no idea, but I'd be happy to know. There are some rules to break or follow. But most of the times the secret is having fun.

8.... where can people see your work (online, conventions or exhibits)?

The 90% of my work has been posted online in my Vimeo channel, swimming thru my ancient blogspot, or in Tumblr.

9.... was there a certain moment that you knew you wanted to be an artist?

I've been drawing since kindergarten and when I grew older I started making puppets, masks and stuff...
So I don´t really recall "the moment" been always the natural thing to be.

10.... if you could give other artists one piece of advice what would it be?

Just one?
